A group of people that covered recently installed pink tank in Brno on Thursday night can face a fine of up to 30,000 CZK (over 1000 EUR). On the green tarpaulin hiding the pink symbol, there was a large writing “Slušní lidé” [“Decent People”]. A political movement with the same name had announced the act earlier on their Facebook page.

“Pink Tank is a mockery of all the heroic actions of our liberators. This is only the beginning of our protest against traitorous Pilgrimage of Reconciliation. ” wrote Decent People referring to annual pilgrimage from Pohořelice to Brno. The pilgrimage commemorates drastic events of expulsion of German nationals after the end of WWII known also as “March of Death”.
Decent People later wrote: “We are ready to bear the responsibility for our acts.” The Facebook page of the controversial movement has almost 8000 followers. One of the points of political program of Decent People is “to hinder islamization of Brno and South-Moravian Region”.
The tank once stood in Smíchov to commemorate the liberation of Prague by the Red Army in WWII. In 1991, a 23-year old student of Academy of Arts, David Černý turned it in a large candy by painting it pink. After returning it to the original state, a group of deputies of Czech Federal Assembly painted the tank pink again.
