Brno, Mar 15 (BD) – The South Moravian Innovation Centre’s STARCUBE (Jihomoravské inovační centrum, or JIC) is an international business startup accelerator that aims to assist aspiring entrepreneurs in getting their ideas off the ground.
This year’s winner of JIC STARCUBE Show 2018, as determined by an international jury of business experts, was the team of Jaroslav List and CEO Tomáš A. Murajda of VORTEX Systems, who designed a pump that is able to remove large volumes of water from flooded areas.
“We are responding to climate change and more frequent floods that municipalities and firefighters have to deal with,” Murajda was quoted in JIC’s official press release. “We have designed a pump that will be more affordable for [emergency workers].”
“In particular, I would like to thank JIC for supporting our area of engineering,” Murajda said during his acceptance speech. “Big thanks to the management of this STARCUBE programme, . . . who really pushed me a lot and gave me a lot of energy to continue in this programme.”
Other award winners included the LETMEE team, who won the People’s Choice Award for an entertaining laser target shooting set, Svatopluk Blažej and Michal Riša’s Life Saving Bracelet, which won the Media Award, and Naumann Machines’ smart vending machine, which took home the Technology Prize.
