Brno, Apr 11 (BD) – The lectures are a part of the exhibition Computer Graphic Re-visited 2.0 at The House of Arts. The exhibition is “… a virtual reconstruction of one of the first exhibitions of computer-generated graphics and the first exhibition ever in the Eastern Bloc, organised in 1968 in the House of Arts by the theorist, curator and artist Jiří Valoch,” according to The Brno House of Arts’ official website.
Oliver Grau – Virtual Art & MediaArtHistories: some years after
Today (April 11), Oliver Grau, a professor from Danube University Krems (Donau-Universität Krems) in Austria, will give a lecture summarising the importance of his publications, Virtual Art. From Illusion to Immersion and MediaArtHistories, to the development and establishment of new media art as a scientific discipline.
Grau specialises in the “history of media art, immersive imagery, emotions and immersion, the history of telepresence, artificial life and digital humanities,“ the organisers write.
The lecture starts at 6pm and it will be held in English with interpretation to Czech.

Frieder Nake – Algorithmic Art: The Superficial Phenomenon and the Essential Innovation
Next Wednesday (April 18), Frieder Nake will give a lecture about early computer art and the transformation from analogue to digital means of computer-generated art. Nake is a mathematician, computer scientist, artist, media theoretician and designer.
This lecture will also be held in English with interpretation to Czech, and it starts at 7:30pm. Entrance is 20 CZK.
