Brno, Apr 19 (BD) – Special ‘cyklobusy’ equipped with bike racks operate on selected lines beginning in the spring. This year, a new line from Brno to a popular recreational area in Vranov nad Dyjí via Znojmo will be introduced, Brno local daily Brněnská drbna reported on Sunday.
Since its first efforts in 2012, the Integrated Public Transport System of the South Moravian Region (IDS JMK) has introduced a number of measures to allow cyclists to take their bikes on public transport while travelling the region.
In previous years, according to Brněnská drbna, special bicycle buses have run from Brno to the Moravian Karst, the Drahanska Highlands, the Dalešická Dam, and the foothills of the White Carpathians.
To identify the bicycle buses, passengers only have to find a wheel symbol in the timetable for that bus line. Click here for the map of all ‘cyklobus’ lines in the region.
Bikes can also be transported in most passenger and express trains.
Bicycle buses are in operation on weekends and holidays from Saturday, April 14 until September 30. On lines 251 and 256, bikes can be transported every day, reads the article on Brněnská drbna.
You can transport your bike by purchasing an extra regular ticket or 24-hour ticket. A 24-hour ticket for one bike costs CZK 70 (about €2.77); a single trip (regular) ticket for a bike is equal to any regular passenger ticket.
