Brno, May 30 (BD) — Sígrs, Alligators prep for home games this weekend; Brno Baseball Derby on Thursday, Friday nights; FC Zbrojovka Brno loses last HET Liga game; and the Brno sports schedule.
WOMEN’S FOOTBALL
Lokomotiva Pulls Out All the Stops For Relegation Battle
The situation is simple: Lokomotiva Brno Horni Herspice must beat visiting FC Hradec Králové on Saturday at 11 a.m. in order to stay in the top women’s football league of the Czech Republic.
It is the final game of the season. The winner saves their season. The loser is relegated.
It is such an important game that the team has devised a way to attract home fans: a free beer and a free klobasa for everyone who cheers on the home team. Admission is just 30kc.

FC Hradec Králové is 1-2-2 from five games in the Play Out Bracket. Including their nine points from the regular season, they have 14 points.
Lokomotiva, which finished just shy of making the Play Off Bracket, started play in the Play Out Bracket as the leader with 12 points. They have since gone 0-1-4 in five games. Their total for the season is 13 points.
AMERICAN FOOTBALL
Tough Home Games for Sígrs, Alligators
After both had a bye week, the local American football teams play home games this weekend at Ragby Bystrc: the Brno Sígrs (3-3) host the Prague Lions (6-1) on Saturday at 3 p.m. and the Brno Alligators (2-4) host Aquaponik Ostrava Steelers (4-3) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
BASEBALL
Draci X Technika on Thursday and Friday Night
Draci Brno will host Technika for 8 p.m. games on Thursday and Friday. Not long ago, this would be a marquee matchup between two top Brno teams. Now, the Draci are in their normal place atop the standings with a record of 21-1 and last-place Technika Brno is 2-18 and working through tough times.
Nevertheless, crosstown rivalries often produce excellent contests.
Cardion Hroši Brno (14-6) is now the Brno team that is in the ascendancy. They are six games back in fourth place and they have a Saturday double-header at third-place Kotlářka Praha (15-5).
Technika Brno scored only two runs in three losses last week and they have been caught by Olympia Blansko, which is also 2-18.
A tough Technika loss was 1-0 on Friday at Hroši Brno. Joe Rivera — who is 1-7 with an ERA of 2.10 — went eight innings and allowed just five hits and a walk, while striking out eight, but Stephen Swagerty was just a bit better: nine innings, five hits, no walks and 13 strikeouts. Swagerty is now 4-1 in his last five starts. He has hit double digits in strikeouts in his last three starts.
MEN’S FOOTBALL
Zbrojovka To Keep Coach, Hires New Sports Manager
The final results are in: FC Zbrojovka Brno finished last in the 2017-18 HET Liga with a record of 6-6-18 for 24 points from 30 games. They scored 20 goals and allowed 43.
Zbrojovka will play in the Forunta narodni liga starting in late July. FC Vysočina Jihlava was also relegated to the second league when it lost on the final weekend.
For Zbrojovka, Roman Pivarník will stay on as the head coach. Tomáš Požár, 34, will come on board as the sports manager.
The owner of the club, Václav Bartoněk, laid out the team’s objective: “The goal is one single season in the second league.”
