Brno, August 16 (BD) – Dělnický dům, translated as a “Workers’ house”, a place to satisfy the needs in worker’s life in 20th century has to offer a lot to a modern visitor, too. Photo: @BrnoDaily
Dělnický dům in Brno – Julianov was built during the times of Austro-Hungarian Empire, survived two wars, and this August celebrates its 120th anniversary.
Dělnický dům has everything a worker in 1897 needed. There is a hall with a scene for theater performances and screening of the movies with capacity of 450 people. The house was built and operated by local volunteers until 50’s.
Workers’ house is a home of 3 lounges with tables and screens for projections, 2 separate rooms and a bar; an excellent place for trade union or corporate meetings.
Today, Workers’ House has a modern restaurant with daily fresh menus. It serves as a catering for events hosted in the house. The place is kids friendly, as there is a summer garden with children’s corner.
Dělnický dům offers regular movie screening in summer months (search for “Židenické letní kino” or read our article about cinemas in Brno).
For the occasion of its 120th anniversary, the façade of the building will be repaired in September. The reconstruction will respect the original look of the 1930s.
