Brno’s newborn lion cubs

Brno, Jan 19 (BD) – The Brno Zoo’s lioness named Kiva became a mother of two in December 2017. One of the breeders of the Zoo took photos of the youngsters. The Zoo published them on its Facebook earlier this week.

The sex of the newborns will be known after the veterinary examination in February, approximately two months from their birth.

Since this is Kiva’s first litter and she has no experience with motherhood, the first couple of months are critical for the cubs and their mother. If everything goes well, the cubs will get their names in spring. One of the names will be chosen by the visitors of Zoo Brno.

Congolese lions Kiva and Lolek are the first lions in Zoo Brno after a fourteen-year break. Lolek, the father of the cubs, now lives in a separate area for the safety of his offsprings.
