Brno, Feb 20 (BD) – A young female zebra, Mia, is the second offspring of Floris, a zebra stallion who arrived at Zoo Brno on May 13, 2014.
“Mia’s mother, Miša, is already an experienced mother, having previously given birth to three youngsters,” spokesman of Zoo Brno Michal Vaňáč said.
This lovely family belongs to the species Grévy’s zebra, the largest and northernmost living of all zebras.
“Their natural habitat is the shrubland, semi-deserts, and savannas of Ethiopia and Kenya,” Vaňáč explained.
There are about 2,680 of them in the wild, and they are listed as an endangered species.
