Brno, Apr 21 (BD) – It’s called ‘Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development’. Students that want to successfully complete their studies must set up their own businesses in the first year of the programme. The classes will be in English, and students that wish join the programme will have to pay tuition.
The successful graduate of the new bachelor’s programme “has the experience and skills acquired through his/her own business practice and has experience with the application of theoretical concepts and knowledge in a real business environment,” reads the official programme description on the VUT website.
According to a survey by the Czech Chamber of Commerce and the Research Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation earlier this year (published 14/2/2018), which involved 2,539 students from 12 faculties of higher education, two fifths of university students would like to start a business in the future.
And while 40% of students stated that they wanted to do business after they finish their studies, many of them fear failure (51%) and legal barriers (one third).
Respondents saw flexibility and the possibility to manage things by themselves as the greatest benefits of running a business, as well as the potential for self-realisation.
