Brno, Jul 26 (BD) – The demand for this change was expressed at several public discussions on the new parking system in Brno. The category of residents will now include foreigners who have temporary residence in Brno. However, those who obtain a parking permit will not be entitled to 100 free hours of parking for visitors, unlike residents who are Czech citizens, according to the City of Brno’s official website.

The City Council of the Brno-center district proposed a reduction in parking charges for commercial users with two or more cars compared to the original price list published in May. The new residential system classifies those parking in Brno into three categories: city centre residents, commercial users, and visitors. On Tuesday, Brno City Council approved an amendment to prices for commercial users; instead of CZK 30,000, they will pay CZK 20,000 for the second car, and instead of CZK 40,000, they will pay CZK 20,000 for the third one. These prices will apply to businesspeople who have a registered office or business in the area, as well as building owners, of all legal entities including public institutions and offices.

New parking system in Brno’s historical centre to take effect from September 1

Parking spaces in the historical centre will cost residents CZK 600 per year for their first car, CZK 15,000 for their second, and CZK 30,000 for their third. Visitors will have to pay 40 crowns for 1 hour of parking in the city centre.

In order to obtain the status of ‘resident’ or ‘commercial user’, applicants will have to visit the office at Zvonařka or request an electronic account. In the historical centre of the city, the municipality is preparing to launch this system on September 1, 2018.
