Muzeum města Brna [“Brno City Museum”] is inviting visitors to “Visit Špilberk in the 14th century!” The 14th century was the period of the castle’s greatest glory when it was the seat of the Moravian margraves Jan Jindřich and Jošt Lucemburský. Photo credit: Muzeum města Brna, Facebook.

Brno, Oct 20 (BD) – The video, with a unique 3D model of the castle, was shown for the first time last year as part of the exhibition “Stavba jako Brno” [“Construction in Brno”]. The 14th-century castle, and especially its surroundings, are difficult to recognize. “The surrounding terrain was radically transformed when the baroque fortress with a rosette of bastions was built,” explained the Museum on Facebook.

The visualisation was created by Petr Vavrečka, an expert in 3D visualizations in the fields of museology, history and archaeology. The visualisation is based on the most recent research on medieval Špilberk by archaeologists from the Brno City Museum.
