Brno, June 24 (BD) – Two streets in Brno center will undergo a complete modernization in fall 2017. Brno Municipality discussed the plans for renovation of Gorkého and Arne Nováka Streets with locals this week.

The project had been planned for two years and was finally completed this May. The modernization of the two streets aims to turn them into more safe and easy-to-use areas for pedestrians and improve the life quality of residents, visitors, students, and staff of the Faculty of Arts.

Citizens should expect extended sidewalks, new safer street crossing, and parking spots for bike and car sharing. The number of regular parking spots won’t be affected.

Along with the public spaces, water and sewer infrastructures will be upgraded. The two streets will be aesthetically enhanced with more green; newly planted trees such as cherry and pear trees will offer a shadow for pedestrians during spring and summer. New benches will be placed at the location.

The project has acquired reconstruction permission and constructions start this fall. Major investor of the project is the Brno Waterworks.

“The two streets will belong for once again to the people and serve as an example of modern reconstruction in the city,” reads the official website of Brno Municipality.
