The first four clocks were installed on Tuesday morning at Main Station [Hlavní nádraží], Nové sady, Benešova street, and Koliště street, informs Brno Municipality.
Other four clocks will be installed during this week at the intersections of Moravské náměstí and Rooseveltova street, Moravské náměstí and Kounicova street, Poříčí and Křížová streets and at Mendlovo Square. Other two public clocks will be added after the summer holiday at Malinovského and Žerotínovo Squares
All clocks will be connected to the control center of Technical Networks Brno (TSB) to immediately resolve any failure.
Ten new clocks were purchased by TSB for almost 1.5 million CZK.
The clocks are replacing the old faulty ones managed by a private company.
Brno is famous for its clocks. Brno’s astronomical clock (Czech: Brněnský orloj), a black stone monument at Náměstí Svobody, keeps provoking colorful reactions even 7 years after its inauguration. “Let’s meet under the clock!” – the clocks at Česká and Main Station serve as popular meeting points for Brno’s citizens.
