A tractor, smartphone and tablet never arrived to their buyers. Most probably, they lost their money forever.
Oct 6 (BD) – In the longing for an interesting purchase of a small tractor, a fifty-six-year-old man from Letovice fell into a scam trap of an unknown offender.
On the Czech Internet portal (police haven’t published its name), he responded to the offer to purchase a small tractor.
In their first electronic communication, the seller referred to an English website where the buyer selected a small tractor for purchase.
Eventually, they agreed on a price of more than EUR 3.000, including the delivery service.
The buyer did not get suspicious when he sent the money reputedly to an English company to a Croatian bank.
An acquaintance of the buyer wanted to buy the same tractor. A few days before the purchase, he changed his mind.
This was an impulse for the fraudster and he stopped communicating with the original buyer.
The tractor was never delivered and the money disappeared.
A similar situation happened to a 17-year-old girl from Brno-Šlapanice, South Moravian police report.
She responded to an online ad offering a branded mobile phone for sale.
After a short communication, she paid the required seven thousand crowns.
When after few days the device didn’t arrive and the vendor stopped communicating, she understood that she fall for a scam.
Another scammer responded to the tablet offer of a 36-year-old woman from the Blanensko region.
They agreed on a price of more than three hundred euros and a payment through the bank safekeeping of an English money house.
The fraudster not only did not send the money to the bank safekeeping but came up with another strange request.
He claimed to have sent five hundred euros to the bank and demanded that the trader must send the difference to another bank – this time in Nigeria.
The woman got suspicious and reported the case to the police.
Still, she lost the device for which she paid about ten thousand crowns.
