Feb 6 (BD) – The first American Academy was founded in Prague a year ago. Following the success of this school, the concept is now being expanded to Brno.

What is the difference between Czech and American-style education that the school offers? The students at American boarding schools are usually not divided into classes by their age or grade, but by level of ability (and knowledge) in particular subjects.

American pupils have fewer subjects than those in Czech schools but study more intensively at different levels of difficulty. “The students are given freedom of choice when it comes to choosing their subjects,” the school explains on its website.

In Brno, there are currently places for 50 children. March 4, 2018 is the deadline for the first round of applications. An open day at the Brno campus is planned for February 18, 2018.

The annual tuition at the Brno campus costs 180 thousand crowns. This discounted fee is only for students that enrol in American Academy in Brno’s inaugural 2018-2019 academic year.

The classes will be held in English and will only be provided by teachers from English speaking countries.

The new school will open in “Jalta Palace” at Dominikánské náměstí.
