The first year of Children’s Oncology Days will be held in Brno February 16-18.

Brno, Feb 15 (BD) – Today is International Childhood Cancer Day.

“It is a day when we come together to continue the work to ‘Advance Cures and Transform Care’ and to make childhood cancer a national and global child health priority,“ the world’s largest childhood cancer patient support and advocacy network Childhood Cancer International writes.

Brno’s Children’s Oncology Days are aimed at changing the public’s approach to children’s oncological diseases. “Do a good deed, think of others and come to support oncologically ill children in the first year of Children’s Oncology Days in Brno,” reads the official website.

“International Childhood Cancer Day is a global collaborative campaign to raise awareness of childhood cancer, and to express support for children and adolescents with cancer, the cancer survivors and their families,” Childhood Cancer International explains.

Brno’s Children’s Oncology Days are also a tribute to all former and current child patients and their families, as well as to those who have succumbed to the disease. “Cancer remains the leading cause of children’s mortality by disease in Europe with 6,000 young patients dying each year,” says the European Society for Pediatric Oncology (SIOP).

In Brno, the program takes place from February 13 to 18. On Saturday, February 17, there will be a special evening and film at Brno Observatory Kravi Hora. On Sunday, February 18, there will be a breakfast for pediatric patients served by dancers of the National Theater Ballet Brno.
