The city council of Brno [Rada města Brno] recommended that the municipal government [Zastupitelstvo] approve a contract for the provision of CZK 4 million to the municipal company STAREZ-SPORT. Brno, May 11 (BD) – The current hardwood was installed in 1986. “The existing floorboards in Rondo Hall, despite ongoing repairs, are old. For this reason, some events can only be organized with restrictions. In order to organise sports tournaments for ball sports, it is necessary to replace the hardwood court with a new one. This will allow volleyball, handball, basketball, and football to return to the Hall,” said 1st Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík in an official press release published on Wednesday, May 9.

The arena itself was opened in 1982 and underwent modernisation in 2010. The capacity of ‘Rondo Hall’ (currently operating under the name DRFG Arena) is 7,700 people, and it is currently home to the legendary Brno ice hockey team HC Kometa.
