Brno, May 11 (BD) – Designers have completed the project of the beautification of the riverside between the ‘Riviera’ swimming pool complex and the railway bridge at Uhelná, including an attractive promenade with a café on Poříčí Street. The team has published new visualisations of the project.

“The concrete banks and, for people, practically inaccessible waterfront will be transformed into a wide, attractive park with a promenade along the water and separate cycle paths. Neither will a café or pier be lacking,” said Martin Ander, Deputy Mayor for the Environment, in an official press release.
“By expanding the riverside area, the Svratka River will regain its natural character. The project will also protect the surroundings from the risk of flooding during heavy rain,” Ander added.

“The aim of the project is to increase the flood protection of the surrounding area, to improve the use of the Svratka River for recreation and leisure activities, and to revitalise the river,” the project description reads.
Now the design team, formerly led by recently deceased professor Ivan Ruller and composed of A PLUS, Šindlar and other architects and engineers, will start work on an application for a building permit.

The permit should be obtained by the end of this year in order to qualify for EU funding.
The total budget of the project will likely be around 340 million crowns.
The revitalisation of the Svratka waterfront is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
