Brno City Council approved an architectural competition for the design of the new Social-Health Complex on Red Hill (Červený kopec) this week. The competition will be managed by the Office of the Architect of the City of Brno. Photo credit: Pexels // For illustration purposes.

Brno, June 1 (BD) – “The new complex will include social and health services with an approximate capacity of 210 beds. Additional medical services will be provided in its medical department, which will also serve as a facility for outpatient services,” explained First Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík in the official press release.

“The complex will also likely become home to either the National Supervisory Centre for Telemedicine and Emergency Calls, or the Educational Healthcare Centre. Our goal is to create a place where continuous care will be provided to citizens, without the need for transportation to other types of facilities,” Hladík added.

The disused 19th-century medical centre, which served as a chronic disease hospital (“LDN”), was deemed unsatisfactory for providing healthcare and closed at the beginning of this year. All patients were transferred to the Chronic Disease Hospital on Polní Street, city spokesman Filip Poňuchálek explained.
