Brno, Jun 6 (BD) – As of yesterday, Brno Airport has been connected with the city centre by a new road. In time for the peak of this year’s summer travel season, the new road will improve traffic flow to the airport that is currently being hampered by renovations to Evropská Street. The new one-way route connects the airport exit road with a two-way street to the north named Tuřanka.

Evropská Street has been limited to single lane traffic recently, so air travellers were facing a risk of delay on their way to the airport. In addition, traffic backing up on Evropská Street would limit access to the D1 motorway and Slatina. Accordingly, Brno Airport has been investing in new roads in co-operation with the South Moravian Region and the City of Brno, the municipal website kopemezabrno.cz reported yesterday.

The new supplementary road was opened on June 5 and will remain open until the end of September.
