Brno, Aug 30 (BD) – Frequency is probably the most important change in the new timetables that will affect public transport service. “The scheduled interval between most trams’ arrival times will be shortened to 2-5 minutes”, Barbora Doležalová, the spokeswoman of Brno Transport Company (DPMB) said. On September 17, with the beginning of the academic year, the DPMB will be adding more tram lines in the peak hours. This regards tram lines #1, #8, #12 and buses #40, #53, and #61.

With the start of the new school year, the construction and renovation works in Moravské náměstí will be completed, namely, the ongoing construction between the streets Koliště and Rooseveltova and between the streets Joštova and Rašínova, in front of the church of St. Tomáš. Also, the renovation works on the tram line in Židenice (section Nezamyslova – Ostravská) will be finished.

As of September, the DPMB will apply the discounted fares for children and senior citizens to public transport in Brno. Children under the age of 15 will be able to travel for about half of the current price; fares for senior citizens over 65 will decrease by about 60 percent.
