The pilot “smart tram stop” in Moravské náměstí is to be one of the two “smartest” tram stops in Brno. When put into operation, it will feature a USB charging station and a touch screen where passengers will be able to follow up-to-date information about delays, browse timetables, and find the best connections. Brno, Sep 3 (BD) – The touchscreen will also provide other information, for example, the weather forecast for the upcoming days, or a list of the current theater shows. Barbora Doležalová, the Brno Transport Company’s spokeswoman, reported that the installation of the first two smart tram stops in Brno is part of the renovation project on Milady Horákové Street in the section Koliště-Rooseveltova.

These smart tram stops provide a modern shelter for passengers: They include a 55-inches-wide touchscreen, a USB charging station, and, among other gadgets, a dust particle measuring device that can will display the measurements of particulate matter (PM) concentrations in the air in a specific location. If the pilot tram stop works well, similar ones will be installed on the Plotní Street in the future. One smart tram stop costs nearly 0.5 million Czech crowns, according to a press release.
