Brno, Dec 3 (BD) – What weather can we expect this Christmas? Both temperatures and precipitation will be slightly above average in the four weeks from December 3 to December 30. The beginning of this period is expected to see above-average temperatures (up to 11° C this week), before returning to the seasonal average for the weeks leading up to Christmas, according to the CHMI.
The coldest week in December will start on Monday, December 17 with an average weekly minimum temperature of around -5° C and a maximum of around +1° C.
The average temperature in the Czech Republic in this period is forecast to be -0.5° C. The lowest average temperature (-6.1° C) was reported in 1969; the highest temperature (4° C) was reported in 2015.
Rainfall from December 3 to December 23 is expected to remain at average levels for the period. Average precipitation in the Czech Republic in this period is 45 mm. “We expect the highest weekly total [of precipitation] in the period from December 3 to December 9, with an average total of up to about 20 mm,” the CHMI reported.
Due to the temperatures, snowfall is expected mainly in the mountains. At lower altitudes, it will snow only sporadically.
