Brno Police have achieved a significant success. The police got intel on drug production in the city center during the summer. Through careful surveillance, they gathered information that led them to a meth production facility in the center of Brno. At the beginning of September, South Moravian police entered the secret facility and arrested a man with hand gloves making pervitin, also known as “methamphetamine” or “meth”. Brno, Sep 14 (BD) – “The 30-year-old man from Brno, who had a stolen gun on him, did not respond to instructions from the police at first; the threat of a pointed firearm made him obey police orders,” said South Moravian police department spokesman Pavel Šváb. Describing the scene, he added: “Two pans contained about 600 grams of ephedrine (intermediate product). From that, 2,100 standard doses of pervitin could have been produced.” The total street value would have been half a million Czech crowns. The man could be sentenced to ten years in prison, according to Šváb.
According to a March 7, 2018 press release by the EMCDDA, the wastewater of 56 cities in 19 different European countries was analysed for metabolites of four different drugs. Cocaine use appears to be on the rise, particularly in the south and west of Europe. Cocaine use in Eastern European cities appears to be relatively low, according to the press release.
