A part of the currently disused complex of the local heating plant is to be transformed into one of the most modern districts in Brno. Brno, Nov 5 (BD) – One of the conditions of the competition is that the project must take into account the principles of the “smart city” concept. The project must incorporate modern technology to make the new district environmentally friendly and energy-conscious. “[The new district] could become a model for future construction and serve as an example of how Brno should look in 2050 according to the new urban strategy,” said Jaroslav Kacer, Deputy Mayor for the Smart City, in a press release.
The project will be located in the vacant western part of the heating plant between the streets of Koliště, Cejl, Radlas and Špitálka. The area covers almost twenty-five hectares.
The competition committee will meet at the end of January 2019. The winning proposal chosen by the councillors will be for a territorial study that will subsequently be used to modify the Brno city zoning plan and for the construction and revitalization of this district of the city.
