Brno, October 16 (BD) – Last Sunday, a block of pallets situated on the road in Francouzská street constrained an ambulance to drive through.
The firemen were called to remove the objects. The operation did not take long.
On the way back to the firemen headquarter, the firefighters encountered poorly parked cars in Traubova street. As result, the firemen had to drive 200 meters backwards in a narrow street back to the main road.
It is important to find solutions for the lack of parking places around the city. In case of emergency, the road blocking can seriously compromise the success of the ambulance service and firemen missions.
“The vehicles in the corners greatly complicate the positioning of the tank syringe and the eleven-meter ladder. In case of a fire in a high-rise (“panelák”), we must park very close to a building,” the spokesperson of HZS JmK, Jaroslav Mikoška explains.
These incidents happen very often in Brno. For this reason, Brno Firefighters ask drivers to park their vehicles correctly and clear the traffic lanes, junctions, corners and keep a three-meter gap for their vehicles.
This year, only at a one random check in Vinohrady district, 30 cases of blocked roads were reported by the firemen.
